Words, Words

I am both happy and a little sad this week.  I am happy, because I am almost finished with my homework and classes for this semester. I need a break.  I am not so happy about school being over.  I think that I am one of the few people who really enjoy being in school. I know that even after I finish my degree in May, I will probably continue to take a class at least once a year.

Right now I am trying to find a internship position for next semester.  I found out that when I called the different offices, I was using the wrong word. Silly me.  Instead of asking if they had an internship position open, I should have been asking to volunteer. Since it is called internship here at school, I thought that was what I was supposed to ask for.

How crazy is it that just a different word can make all the difference in the world.  I know that the words you say are important to others.

I learned this first hand when I was involved in my head-on car accident in 2007.  I kept remembering on that day the last words I said to my oldest son were not very nice. I now try very hard to say something nice whenever we part. So remember your words due count both in the office and personally!

Sick, Sick, Everybody Got Sick

This last week started out with our puppy Finn (you know who Finn is) being sick. Then I got sick. YUCK! Next  Daisy Mae (my brindle frenchie) got sick. Then, Oscar (my husband), Mathew (my son), and Becca (my daughter) all got sick. Finally, as of Saturday, Maggie and Angel ( two more of our Frenchies) got sick.

I know that people and dogs can not share the same virus, but it sure feels that we all shared the same thing.  As of today, Finn, Becca, Matthew, Oscar, Daisy Mae, and I are mostly back to normal.  Hope that this stops now. We only have 2 more Frenchies to go.

Movies with Shaquille O’Neal

So last night Shaquille O’Neal came to our movie theater to see Breaking  Dawn Part 2. We (the employees) are not allowed to take photos or ask for autographs, so I am using this one from his website (www.shaq.com).

He is a very nice man who likes to eat nachos with a lot of cheese and peanut M&Ms. He took care of his fans when they asked for his photo or his autograph with a smile and a laugh. I do have one photo that a friend took, but it is in my phone and I don't know how to get it into the computer.

After working double shifts for the last few days and getting ready to work another one today for customers who have been rude or nasty, I was happy to see that Shaq and his friends or family were very happy and nice to serve.

Breaking Dawn Part 2

So tonight (Thursday) Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 comes out. I got picked to be the adult to go with my daughter and her friends to tonight's 10pm opening show. I am sure that it will be very crazy at the theater tonight and this whole weekend.  Everyone at the theater is scheduled to work all three nights this weekend. Needless to say, I am doing my homework now, because I will not get the chance later. I normaly would look forward to resting during Thanksgiving, but that is one of our very busy days for the theater.

Hope everyone will come out and visit us at Carmike Cinemas Foothills 12 in Maryville on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Yep we are the only thing open on Christmas Day. So after watching all of your children, grandchildren, in-laws, and out of town guests until it drives you crazy, come on over and drive us crazy. Just remember that we have feelings and don't be rude.

Daughter and Dogs

So this post is about my Daughter and our French Bulldogs.
Both are crazy in their own ways.

My daughter is crazy about:

So this is one wall in my daughter's room. She just loves One Direction and Josh Hutcherson.
From One Direction, she specifically likes Zayn.
Next summer we are going to see One Direction in concert in Atlanta.

I remember when I was younger, I used to have posters of New Kids On The Block and a few other boy groups of that time on my walls.

My French Bulldogs are crazy about:

These are my 10 year old frenchies, Oreo and Chaz.
They are crazy about this chair.
This used to be my chair, but they have not let me sit in it for a few years.
So now we call it the Dog Chair.
Oreo usually stays in it all day and only gets down if she wants to go out or to eat.
In December, I will be getting a new chair and the dogs will be getting doggy beds.
Good Bye Dog Chair, I am sure they will miss you.

Short On Time

This weekend I am very short on home time. I have multiple homework assignments for a few different classes and I have to work all weekend at the movie theater.  At least I get to have a little fun on Sunday, because I get to make cotton candy in the lobby and give out samples of it to little kids. Usually, I have to make around 20 bags, but I get six hours to make them in. If I am in a hurry I can make them in two hours.  This time it will be a very easy and fun job.  I stand and talk to little kids and their parents. The little kids are usually licking their lips while watching me make the cotton candy. They get to request what color they want and I tell them the different flavors.

From the four colors that we have (blue, dark pink, light pink, yellow) I make green, peach, gray, purple, and orange. Last weekend, I experimented with chocolate cotton candy. Most employees did not like the plain chocolate even though it smelled liked warned up Coco Puffs. I then made Chocolate Banana and most of them freaked out over the flavor. It was fun trying to get the mixture just right for the best flavor. At the end of the night we decided that we will offer that flavor only by special order.

The Sad and The Happy

Well two big things happened this week.

First, sadly Izzy finally went to live in her forever home near Nashville. She has been looking for a forever home for the last two months. Once a year I let my French Bulldogs have a litter of babies. Izzy and Finn are from this years litter. My daughter is very happy that we are keeping Finn. We are not having any more babies in the future.

Second, my brother-in-law is coming to visit us and the states for the first time. He lives in El Salvador and I have never met him even thougn I have been married for 16 years to his big brother. He is coming in December to stay with us for about a week.  We will also be taking him to Maryland to visit his sister and her family.

The great thing about his visit is not only seeing him, but I get to buy all kinds of new stuff for my living roon. I have wanted to redo it for a long time.  My husband is always saying that we can paint the house later or buy new items later.  Now he is making lists of the things that he wants to change.  He has already started with the gradens in the front of the house.  I get Christmas early this year!!

Becca's Soccer Team

So my daughter, Becca plays soccer with Parks and Rec in Blount County. She has been with the same coach for 4 years. Her team is the green team in the co-ed division for 13-16 year olds.

Today they played the blue team. Before today's game her team was in first place in the league.
Usually they are in last place, but the kids on the team got tired of getting laughed at by the other teams.  So, they have been playing very hard this season just to get in first place. She even has a player from Alcoa High School on the team who thought that this league was a joke at first.

Well they were so confident that they were going to win that they let the other team score.
The final score was 1-1, but that dropped them into second place with 3 games left to go this season.
I asked her how she felt about second place.  She replied, "Second is good, but we wanted first to show the other teams that we can have fun and win."

All of the kids are on this team for fun not to have to win. They all think of each other as a family not as rivals. The tie today was a big lesson for the team.

No Biting!!

During this week my two youngest children have been at home for their Fall Break. Finn and Izzy are very happy that the children are home so that they can play with them. The puppies are learning not to bite when they are excited. When we walk in the house, the puppies come running. They jump up to lick us and crawl all over us if we sit down. The only problem is when they are so excited and they are licking us, they don't remember to not bite us like they do the other dogs.

When they bite we flick them on the nose and say; "No Bite!" You must remember to say it in a stern tone of voice. Matthew has a problem of laughing when they bite him at first, so Finn and Izzy keep doing it. Then when they bite hard, he gets mad at them and doesn't want to play anymore. Poor Finn and Izzy. They get so confused with the mixed signals. Becca is much better, excpet when Finn is standing on her back pulling on her hair. Hopefully, We all will get better at teaching Finn and Izzy NOT to BITE!!

My Fat Boy Finn

Finn was being a crazy fat boy today. He kept running back and forth across the house, then rolling around on the couch.  I call him my fat boy, because his tummy is so fat after he eats like a Budda statue.  His sister Izzy never gets that fat. Every time I call him Fat Boy, I think about the movie Alice in Wonderland, where the red queen calls for her Fat Boys.  Finn's mom is Angelina or Angie as I call her. She is a brindle pied frenchie. That means that she is white with brindle(brown and black) spots. She also has angel wings on her back.  Some people call it a saddle, but I think that it is wings.
This is Angelina.  My angel baby.

Keeping My Promise

I am sitting in my room at Wilderness at the Smokies. I am in this room with 4 teenagers. At this moment all of them are out at the WaterDome. I am sitting here doing homework and studying for a Midterm test. I am keeping my promise to bring my kids here.  We were supposed to come here at the beginning of the summer, but I was working and not able to take off. So we are spending the night in this lovely hotel and playing in the water tomorrow. We are also ordering room service for the first time.

Working Weekend

This has been a working weekend for my family.  On Friday we ripped up the floor in the bedroom in our rental property. Saturday we finished that floor and started on the ceiling in the living room. Today we are working on the floor in the living room.  It is not finished, but the family that is renting it is very understanding.
They have been there for almost 2 years and understand that any major problems get fixed as soon as I can.
After the floor in the living room we are finished.

Matthew's Birthday

Well my youngest turns 13 years old on Monday.  Today I gave him one of his presents. He got a Wii. We went to McKays used books in Knoxville,  so that we could pick out a few games. He is going to the Tennessee Valley Fair tomorrow with his friends. I have to work at the theater today and Sunday. Hope that he has a great birthday.

My Frenchie Babies are 12 weeks today!!

This is my baby Finn. He is a blue brindle Frenchie.

This is baby girl Izzy. She is a black brindle Frenchie.

Today they are 12 weeks old!!   When I come home and take off my shoes, they are waiting to bite my toes.  If my daughter leaves her bedrrom door open, they will sneak in and steal whatever is on the floor.  Wednesday, I saw them dragging out her shoes and last week it was her sock and bra. Then you see her running after them and yelling at them to stop. It is so funny!!  When I was doing my home work yesterday, I had both laying next to me. Izzy kept trying to lick my face. Finn kept trying to bite my fingers and ear. The photos above were very hard to take, because they only stay still if they are asleep.
